Josh Montgomery, High School Pastor

Jesus means the world to me, and I'm pumped to share Him with the students here at Hope Community Church! My faith journey is a product of the effects of youth ministry, and my dream is to help high school students be able to say the same thing! I accepted Christ into my life as a camper at Westminster Woods during the summer of 2017. That week of camp changed my life forever and showed me the importance of having a relationship with Jesus. The Lord showed me that pursuing Him is greater than anything the world could give me, and I haven't looked back since!

I'm originally from Arkansas City, but I moved to Wichita in 2021 to attend Wichita State University. It was during these years of my life that I would spend my summers working at the same summer camp I went to as a camper. Whether I was in a cabin as a counselor and leading campers, or leading chapel music as the worship coordinator, I fell in love with doing ministry. This is when I realized that I wanted to share God with others as my career!

It was also during this time while working at camp that I met my now wife, Claire! We would spend the next two plus years driving between Lawrence and Wichita as I finished WSU, and she finished her degree at KU. Our time dating included a lot of time on the highway, but also a lot of time doing ministry together. God has been faithful to us, and we're excited to see how He is moving in our lives as newly weds!

We've only been married a short while, but Claire and I feel so blessed by God to be at Hope and to be able to serve this church! This is a special place with such amazing people, and we're excited to now be a part of it!
