Ben Chambers, Worship Pastor
I live in Augusta, Kansas, with my beautiful wife, Renae, and our three incredible sons, Psalm, Cyrus, and Jorim. My life is a series of twists and turns that began with a tumultuous childhood in a large, conservative, homeschooled family. Having met Jesus at a young age, it was always apparent to me that He was close to me and was working His plan for my life, despite all of the difficulties—and throughout it all, praise and worship of Jesus through music and prayer was an integral part of my relationship with Christ. Some of my earliest and most precious memories are of singing hymns as a toddler in front of extended family, and years later teaching myself to play guitar and worship under the stars in a field near our house in Texas.
I always considered music just a hobby and an avenue to serve the Lord through worship throughout my life, and I was well into my career working as an HR consultant when my wife and I started attending Hope Community Church in 2020. After the second time we visited, Renae and I were sure we'd found a community of servants that had a heart for Jesus, for growing and encouraging the Church body, and for reaching the lost in our immediate community and all over the world! At that point, we were all in and began helping with the Middle School classes and with worship. It was very clear to us as soon as we started attending that this is where God wanted us to be.
At the end of 2025, God turned our lives upside-down when Hope Community asked me to be the Worship Pastor. After spending time seeking the Lord and the wisdom of friends and family, Renae and I felt it was clear that this was an incredible opportunity, so I left the HR career behind to move into the Worship Pastor role in January of 2026.
With over 1,000 references to music and/or instruments in His Word, God has made it very clear that music is important to Him. While I still have much to learn, my hope and mission is to encourage others to approach the Lord with truth and conviction in song, as the psalmist writes in Psalm 100:
"Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the LORD is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations."
