Ashley Enns, Kids of Hope Pastor

I've always loved sharing Jesus with children! I started teaching Sunday School when I was 12 and grew up babysitting many kids.

I was the oldest of seven (27, if you count foster siblings). I met my husband at Hillsboro middle school, and have only had eyes for him since! We married in 2002 while we were in college. A few years later, we decided to become foster parents and in 2005, got the call for five sisters. We later adopted two boys. Of the seven, five still live at home.

In 2013, we'd been church-hopping for a year, looking for the right fit. (That was so hard!) We visited Hope, someone told us about the Wings of Hope (special needs) program, and we knew we were done hopping! I started volunteering at Hope teaching 3-year-olds Sunday School, Elementary BLAST!, and Bible Adventures at VBS.  I stepped into the role of BLAST! director in 2020 and started transitioning to Kids of Hope pastor in 2021-2022. (My husband was relieved when I took a job outside our home; he knows God made me to be busy with projects and he likes for some of those projects to not involve him!)

My favorite part of my job is Vacation Bible School: I’m so blessed by the families entrusting us with their kids, and the hundreds of Hope volunteers who step up to be Jesus to our community!
