Things you won’t be able to do in heaven

Ever think about what you won’t be able to do in heaven? No, I’m not talking about eating tacos (pretty sure heaven has those). But there’s one big thing that won’t be possible in eternity: using your resources to reach those who don’t yet know Jesus. (Or, as Jesus calls it, "fishing for people.")

Right now, we have this fleeting, once-in-a-lifetime window—this short blip on the timeline of eternity—where we can make an eternal impact. In heaven, the mission will be complete. Everyone will know Jesus. There will be no one left to reach. But today? There are people in our neighborhoods, workplaces, even our own families, who don’t yet know the hope we have in Him. And God, in His wild and beautiful plan, has given us the opportunity to be part of their story.

Paul reminds us, “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16)

Think about that: making the most of every opportunity. That means the way we spend our time, our energy, and yes, even our money, isn’t just about us—it’s about what lasts forever. We don’t get to bring our bank accounts into eternity, but we do get to use them now to invest in what matters most.

We get to be part of funding ministries that spread the gospel, supporting missionaries who go where we can’t, and meeting real needs in our communities so that people can experience the love of Jesus in tangible ways. Every dollar we give toward the mission of God is an investment that never loses its value. And beyond that, we get to personally invest in relationships—sharing the gospel with friends and family, showing up for those who feel unseen, living in a way that points to Jesus.

One day, we won’t have this chance. But today? We do. So let’s live wisely, love boldly, and give generously—because this life is the only opportunity we’ll ever have to reach those who don’t yet know Jesus.

Peace,
Nick
